Her Nursery

I've already gotten the ball rolling on Bunny's nursery and I'm pretty sure I know (in my head) exactly what it will/should look like. I'm starting early this time around because last time we didn't even move into our house until 3 weeks before Ky came along so we were rushing to move, paint, set up the whole house, AND take our time putting together his sweet nursery and I never really felt ready.

Well after all that hard work putting together Ky's nursery, he'll soon be moving into what is currently our guest room. Reason being is that our guest room is the smallest room in the house and won't comfortably fit a crib, changer and glider... I know the glider should be in the newbie's room so unfortunately Ky has to sacrifice his bigger room for his little sis.

My inspiration for her nursery is "The Secret Garden." For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to do a "Secret Garden" themed nursery if we ever had a girl. Well my thoughts and images have been swirling around in my head (and, um... on Pinterest)... and I finally got my butt in gear and put together an inspiration board so I can see it all laid out. It's not really so much "Secret Garden" as it is just... well... garden.

We have been given a round white crib from my aunt who saved it for me when my littlest cousin grew out of it and I'm thrilled... I think round cribs are beautiful and girly and I can't wait to see how it looks in her room. The only issue I had was that round crib bedding is usually ugly, expensive, or both. Thankfully I found a shop on Etsy that custom-makes round crib bedding. I'm going to be using the "Big Bloom" sheet set from Pottery Barn Teen (which is on sale for $50! Score!) to turn that into a bumper and crib skirt for the crib to go with simple, solid-colored sheets. I think it'll turn out beautifully!

The walls will be painted a neutral beige to off white color, save for an accent wall which I want to do a deep punch pink. That's the wall the crib will go against.

I also want to hang colorful poms above the crib that match the colors in the bedding. Reminds me a little of the Bellagio Flower Ceiling which I have always loved!

Our glider is a cream color and that will stay the same... but I want to accent it with this pretty floral pillow that I saw on (where else?) Etsy.

And how much do you LOVE that rosette lamp?? That's also from Pottery Barn Kids but the colors don't match the bedding so if I really want it, I might have to get my DIY on. I found this tutorial on Pinterest and I might just have to copy it!

We still need to find a white dresser and finalize the rest of the wall art, but other than that I think everything else has been decided! We probably won't transition Ky to the other room and get started on the nursery until April but I wanted to start collecting items and finalizing my thoughts so I didn't get frazzled at the last minute.

Overall, I want her nursery to be bright and peaceful while still being girly but not too baby-ish. I love the floral colors and the bedding is great because I can incorporate so many other colors as accents... I picture a white shelf with a vase of gorgeous flowers... and maybe even frame any leftover scraps of the fabric in white frames to tie the whole room together. I can't wait to see the final product and I will surely share pictures once it's done!
